Roy Diebold

Roy George Diebold, of RR#4 Durham, passed away with his family by his side at Chapman House Residential Hospice, Owen Sound on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Elaine Diebold (nee Caldwell). Loving father of Shane Diebold and his wife Darlene, and Vince Diebold and his wife Nancy. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin, Jasmine, and Sarah. Dear brother of Kathy Hilliard-Baigent and her husband Bev. Predeceased by his parents Oscar and Ruth Diebold, and his step-mother Mary-Ann Diebold.

Roy always had a knack for working with people. He spent much of his career working in industrial hardware sales where he excelled, receiving numerous awards for top sales results by district throughout Canada. Even when Roy retired, he found himself back in the sales field where he worked part-time selling vehicles.

Roy was a pillar of strength and commitment, always dedicating his talents and spare time to the Church and community. He was a natural musician, gifted chef, generous people-person, and a good Christian always putting others before himself. Roy also had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends.

Roy was actively involved with Amos Dromore Presbyterian Church since moving to the area shortly after he married Elaine in 1970, serving on various boards and committees, and lending his musical talents for special events and regular worship services when needed. As a member of the Optimist Club of Egremont, Roy provided dedicated service to the youth and their community for 32 years. Throughout the years, Roy's passion and leadership enabled him to assume many roles within the Club, from various supporting duties through to Club president. His commitment and dedication called him to be a part of a team that was instrumental in making way for the construction of the Egremont Optimist Community Centre in Holstein.

Roy leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments that will forever enrich the lives of those he touched. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

A private memorial service celebrating Roy's life will be held at Amos Presbyterian Church, Dromore. Friends and extended family are welcome to view a recording of the service on Monday, February 28 at 10 a.m. by visiting the home page of McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home website (mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca) or the McCulloch-Watson Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/mccullochwatson/). The video will remain posted for viewing afterwards. Spring interment of cremated remains at Amos Dromore Cemetery.
