Cecil Baines

Cecil Victor Baines, of Durham, passed away at Chapman House, Owen Sound on Sunday, September 3^rd, 2023 in his 77th year.  Beloved husband of Joan (nee Clydesdale), having celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary earlier this year.  Loving father of Shaun Baines and his partner Jenn Dean, and Scott Baines and his partner Keri Stewart.  Proud grandfather of Charlotte “Charlie” and Cecil welcomed Wyatt, Dalynne, Colton, Logan, and Mya to the family.   Dear brother of Mary and her husband Royden McDermid, Wilda Eden, and Glen Marshall and his wife Marie.  Also remembered by his sister-in-law Audrey Marshall, and his many nieces and nephews and their families.  Predeceased by his parents Victor and Irene Baines, his brothers Irven Marshall, and Bruce Marshall and his late wife Norma, his brother-in-law John Eden, and his sister-in-law Pat Marshall.

A funeral service celebrating Cecil’s life will be held at the Durham Community Centre, 451 Saddler Street West, Durham on Sunday, September 10^th at 2 p.m., followed by a casual come and go celebration of life from 3 – 6 p.m.  Please dress casual, Cecil loved sports and you are welcome to wear your favourite jersey. Cremation to follow with interment of cremated remains at McNeil Cemetery, Priceville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Durham Presbyterian Church (General Fund), Chapman House (cheques payable to Grey Bruce Hospice Inc.) or the cancer unit at London Health Sciences Centre (cheques payable to London Health Sciences Foundation) would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
