Ellen Gilson

Vera Ellen Gilson (nee Stannard), of Durham, passed away at Brightshores Health System, Owen Sound on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Gilson. Loving mother of Les Gilson, Nicole and her husband Dieter Plagenz, and Deb and her husband Rob Veccia. Cherished grandmother of Sydney and Emma Plagenz, and Zander and Addisyn Veccia. Dear sister-in-law of Min Stannard, and Ruth Kean. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Dave Stannard, and by her in-laws Jacqueline and Fred Doerffer, Grace and Jack Naylor, Betty and Sixty Coombs, Shirley and James Naylor, and Jack Kean.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at the Durham Cemetery Columbarium on Saturday, August 10th at 11 a.m. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
