Bill Kennedy

William John “Bill” Kennedy, of Durham, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Monday, October 7th, 2024 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Iris Kennedy (nee Sanderson). Loving father of Kris Kennedy and his wife Cathryn, and the late Debbie McDevitt and her husband Frank McDevitt. Cherished grandfather of Anita Kennedy, Alex Kennedy, Drew Kennedy and his wife Emily, Griff McDevitt, and Kris McDevitt. Great-grandfather of 11. Bill will also be remembered by the Dentinger family. Predeceased by his brothers Norman and Howard Kennedy. 

Bill was a member of the Grey and Simcoe Foresters, a reserve infantry regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces, and he served as President of various newspaper organizations. Bill was involved in the Durham community, he was a member of the Durham Kinsmen Club, he volunteered for the local Ambulance Service and was the Deputy Chief with the Durham Fire Department. 

A memorial service will be held at the Durham Legion on Friday, October 11th at 1 p.m., with visitation prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Private interment of cremated remains will be held at Durham Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Durham Food Bank or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
