Shirley Torry

Shirley Alice Torry (nee Picken), formerly of Durham, has gone to be with God on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Clark Torry. Loving mother of the late Cathy (2019) and her husband Stephen Morris, Karen and her husband Larry Matheson, and William Torry and his wife Michele. Cherished grandmother of Gillian, Jennifer and her husband Jim, Stacey and her husband Dustin, Andrew and his wife Michelle, Harmony and her husband Shawn, and Curtis. Great-grandmother of Bailey, Tatum, Kentaya, Alex, Alice, Clara, Jesse, Kiera, MacKenzie, Mason, and Briar. Dear sister of Margaret and her husband Dave Rouse, and Bill Birr and his wife Rose. Sister-in-law of Ron Addis, Lynn Picken, Jan Birr, and Joan Picken. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Allan and Alice Picken, her sister Barbara Addis, Marion Pearsen, and Margaret Robinson, her brothers Billy Picken, Bob Picken, Arden Birr, and Ron Birr, and her infant sisters Jean and Louise Picken.

Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of “The Village” and the nurses and Dr’s at the Hanover Hospital.  Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the MS Society would be appreciated by the family.
