Death Notice of Dan Nolan
Daniel Gerard Nolan, of Hanover, passed away at the Hanover and District Hospital on Friday, November 15th, 2024 in his 67th year. Beloved husband of Adele Vath-Nolan. Loving father of Caitlin Waugh and Brian Endo, Annie Waugh, and Claire Nolan. Cherished grandfather of Beatrice Cooper. Dear brother of Mary-Alice and Bill Zister, Chuck Nolan, Joan Schmidt, Rose and Gerry Corrigan, Paula and Ken Work, John and Joanne Nolan, Teresa and Rolo DeMarchi, Nora and Grant Fleming, and Virginia and Rosh Grigg. Dear brother-in-law of Jane Vath, Maribeth Dixon, Anne Warman, Dennis and Marion Vath, John Vath, Lisa and Randy Robertson. Predeceased by his parents Charlie and Pauline Nolan, his brothers-in-law Jerry Schmidt, George Dixon, and Roger Warman, his parents-in-law Peter and Audrie Vath, and his best friend Dennis Merchant.
Dan was a quiet, gentle and kind man who loved his family, friends and pets. He worked as a stained-glass artist for nearly 40 years, owning and operating his business out of his home studio, and his art can be found in homes and churches across Ontario. He took pride in teaching; running night courses at local schools, teaching stained glass and helping anyone who asked with home renovation projects. He loved going for walks with his family, friends and dog down the Carlsruhe Road or at the Sulphur Springs Conservation area.
In his spare time, he loved playing the guitar, watching any and every movie he could find (good or bad), doing puzzles, cooking and baking bread. Many summer days he could be found on the front porch with a coffee, “watching the world go by”.
A private interment was held at the Holstein Cemetery in the natural burial section. A celebration of life will be held at the Hanover Curling Club on Saturday November 23rd from 1 – 4 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Bruce Trail Conservancy would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
