Death Notice of Gary Raymond Bailey
May 23rd, 1934 - March 11th, 2025
Gary passed away at the Hanover Hospital at the age of 90. Our family is saddened by his passing, but honouring of his incredible life.
Gary was the beloved husband of Constance Margery (nee Thiel). Dad is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children; Byron Ward Bailey, and Jilanna Marie and her husband Dave Gibson. Treasured Grandfather of Tabitha and her husband Mike Cunningham, Nicole Gibson, Jessie-Ann Gibson and her partner Adea, Nathen and wife Charlotte Bailey, Natasha Bailey and her partner Austin, and Harmoni Hoffman. Adored Great-grandfather of Henry and Calvin Cunningham and Lily Hoffman.
Fondly remembered by siblings Jim Bailey, Sandra and her husband Roy Lamond, Tom and his wife Yvonne Bailey. Sisters-in-law Lucielle Thiel and Louise Bailey, along with many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Bruce Dods Gunn Bailey and Myrtle (nee Hepworth). Grandparents Dr. James Trueman Bailey and Alice Emily (nee Dods), and Briggs Hepworth and Rose Elizabeth Ford; Brothers Bill Bailey and Norman Bailey. Sister Beverly Ann Daradick. Grandson Alexander Raymond Bailey. Sisters-in-law Beatrice (Tom) Raveney and Phyllis (Bruce) Morrison. Brothers-in-law Dr. Chelsea (Valerie) Thiel, Calvin (Eileen) Thiel, Ward (Jean) Thiel.
Dad joined the army in August 1952 at the age of 18 and served for 25 years. His career took him all over the world. Korea in 1953, Egypt in 1956 and 1975, Cyprus in 1965. He lived with his family in Calgary Alberta, Germany, Victoria British Columbia, Ottawa Ontario, CFB Borden and Orangeville. Gary was a proud and active member of the Orangeville and Durham Legions.
Gary will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orangeville. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Durham Legion or the Poppy Fund at the Orangeville Legion (cheques payable to RCL Br 233 Orangeville Legion, please put Poppy Fund in memo line) would be appreciated.
