Shirley MacDonald

Passed away at her home after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011. The former Shirley Margaret Ruth Vaughan, of Durham, in her 78th year. Beloved wife for 56 years of Murray MacDonald, with whom she owned and operated the MacDonald Home Bakery for over 50 years. Loving mother of Faye MacDonald of Durham, Lois MacDonald and her friend Mike McCabe of Guelph, Julie and her husband Andy Mueller of Priceville, and Willard MacDonald and his wife Lonnie of Markdale. Cherished grandmother of Tori, David, Tyler, Dylan and Jordan. Dear sister of Ruth and Ron Schenk of Kitchener, and Alex and Marie Vaughan of Cambridge. Sister-in-law of Marjorie Vaughan, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Dale and Leonard Scales. Predeceased by her brothers: Clarence Vaughan, John Vaughan, Alfred Vaughan; and her sisters: Eva Reay and Vera Ray.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Durham Presbyterian Church on Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment at Durham Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Epilepsy Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Foundation or the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
