Death Notice of Ann Goerz

April 26, 1920 - March 26, 2014
Birthplace: Ruckenau, Ukraine
Parents: Henry and Anna Braun
Married: November 6, 1948 to John Goerz (deceased, 1990)
Family: son, Carl (deceased, 2011) daughter-in-law, Susan; daughter, Judith, son-in-law, Helmut Penner; daughter, Margaret Kuhl; son, Thomas Goerz; four grandchildren, and eight great-grand-children

Ann Goerz was born in Ruckenau, Ukraine to Anna and Henry Braun. Her mother died when she was two years old. She was brought by her grandparents to Canada when she was 4, and was raised by them in Winnipeg, where she lived for almost 30 years, eventually marrying John Goerz. They moved to Kitchener, Ontario in 1950. Ann found her most fulfilling work in leading Bible studies for all ages. She had a life-long love of music, books and art, even studying English at the University of Waterloo after she retired.

She moved from Kitchener to Tabor Homes in St. Catharines in 1992, where she lived for the last 21 years. A highlight of her time in St. Catharines was participating in prison visits and ministry which she did weekly until she no longer had the strength. Her health started to decline last summer, so that by mid-autumn it was clear to her and her family that she needed nursing care. In November she was moved to Rockwood Terrace in Durham, Ontario, where her daughter and 12 other family members were only 5 minutes away. Her general health continued to decline. She wanted nothing more than to be "home" with her Lord Jesus, and on March 26th she slipped quietly away to her real home exactly one month before her 94th birthday.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to all the staff at Rockwood Terrace for treating Mom with such dignity and loving-kindness.
