Hugh David Riddell, passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on Thursday, November 20th, 2014. Born on November 5, 1931 at St. Thomas, Ontario, he was the eldest son of Morrow and Laura Riddell of Welbeck. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Anne Riddell (nee Harvey) for fifty-six years, recently of Barrie. Dear father of Jill Shipley-Brown (David) of Barrie, Peggy Millar (Tim) of North Bay, and Robert Riddell (Jennifer) of Barrie. He was the proud grandfather of Alex and Charlotte Shipley, Max, Julia and Lucy Millar, MacKenzie Knapp and Liam Riddell. Hugh will be missed by his brother Doug (Marilyn) of Welbeck. He was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Reid and her husband Bruce.
He will lovingly be remembered by Norma Riddell and Cathy and Bev Turner and families, and will never be forgotten by his many nieces and nephews. We will all miss his constant curiosity for life and his desert dry wit. His family is profoundly grateful for the love and support given to Hugh and Elizabeth Anne throughout the course of his illness.

A celebration of Hugh's life will be held Latona Presbyterian Church, Dornoch on Monday, November 24th at 11 a.m.
