Bruce Atkinson

Robert Bruce Atkinson, of Durham, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020 in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Alice Atkinson (nee Hutchinson). Loving father of Janet Atkinson and her husband Steve Stillaway, Matthew Atkinson and his wife Chrystal and Michelle Atkinson. Cherished grandfather of Allyssia Atkinson, Justin Atkinson and great-grandfather of Jakob Sedman. Dear brother of Shirley Atkinson, George Atkinson and his wife Carol, David Atkinson, Jim Atkinson and his wife Marg, Ellen and her husband Ken Russwurm and his "little brother" Paul Metzger. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Tracy-Lynn Schaus-Atkinson, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his father Jack Atkinson, his mother Aveon Atkinson-Reay, his stepfather Albert Reay, his grandchildren Aunna Lee, Abrielle Hope and James Atkinson, his brother John W. Atkinson, and his sisters-in-law Marion and Heather Atkinson. Bruce was the past president of the Durham Legion, a Cub Pack leader for over 30 years, a volunteer at King's Kids for 20 years, an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and an avid crafter.

A private funeral service celebrating Bruce's life will be held. Interment at Durham Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Durham Baptist Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
