Death Notice of Alex Leith

August 8, 1941 - December 29, 2021

William Gordon Alexander Leith passed away peacefully at Grey Gables, Markdale with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 in his 81st year. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Linda (nee Pipher). Dear father of Scott Leith (Shawna), Jason Leith (Nikki), and Melissa Leith (Cody). Stepfather of Duane Hartley, Pamela Tsapoitis, and Connie Edwards (Brian). Cherished grandfather of Chelsea (Jake), Madilyn, Ryan, nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons. Also survived by his sisters Alles Fairclough, and Margaret Matthews (Barry), his nieces Joanne, and Katrina, and his nephew James. Alex is predeceased by his infant son David, his parents Gordon and Ethel Leith, his brothers-in-law David Coles and Joe Fairclough. Alex was born in Durham, Ontario and was raised and lived in the Dromore area all of his life. After graduating College in 1961 he worked as a fieldman for Grey County Federation of Agriculture. In 1971 he started to work for the ARDA branch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF). When this branch closed he became an extension assistant working with the 4H Clubs and Junior Farmers until OMAF closed in 2000. Then he became a fieldman with the Queens Bush Rural Ministries. During all of his time, Alex and his family ran a cow calf farm on Grey Road 23. Alex was a member and elder of Amos Dromore Church and was an avid singer with both the church choir and the Grey Bruce Singers.

A funeral service will be held at Amos Presbyterian Church, Dromore on Tuesday, January 4th at 1 p.m. (proof of full vaccination is MANDATORY to attend the funeral service). If you wish to attend the funeral service you MUST reserve a seat. Reservations for the funeral service can be made by visiting the death notice on the Funeral Home website (www.mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca) and click "make a reservation" to confirm your attendance or by calling the Funeral Home at 519-369-3837. Due to Covid-19 protocols masks are required, social distancing must be respected on Church property. Friends and extended family are welcome to view a recording of the service on Wednesday, January 5th at 10 a.m. by visiting the home page of McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home website (mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca) or the McCulloch-Watson Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/mccullochwatson/). The video will remain posted for viewing afterwards. Interment at Amos Dromore Cemetery.
