Evelyn Hastie

Evelyn Susan Hastie (nee Watson), of Durham, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Monday, August 15th, 2022 in her 79th year. Beloved wife of the late Larry Hastie, who predeceased her on August 1st. Loving mother of Deryk Hastie and his wife Jill, and Devin Hastie and his wife Lisette. Proud grandmother of Brayden, Jack, Max and Levi. Predeceased by her parents Joe and May Watson, and by her parents-in-law Earl and Ethel Hastie.

Evelyn dedicated her life to teaching. Whether it was grade school or piano, she brought preparation, patience and passion to every lesson and student for more than three decades. She was an accomplished figure skater, she was active in the church through music, was a proud hockey mom and loved the time she spent with family and friends at the Sauble Beach trailer. She was proud of her four grandsons and Grandma's music will live on with them.

Visitation will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Friday, August 26th from 5 – 8 p.m.. A funeral service celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held at Knox United Church, Durham on Saturday at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the service from 10:15 – 10:45 a.m. A recording of the funeral service will be available for viewing on the Funeral Home website on Sunday (www.mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca). 

Interment at Durham Cemetery.
