Rolf Kraus

Rolf Reinhard Kraus, of Durham, passed away at London Health Services – Victoria Hospital, London on Monday, September 19th, 2022. He was 87. Father of Steve Kraus and his wife Karen, and Doug Kraus and his partner Lisa Lantz. Cherished grandfather of Megan and Adrian Franken, Devin Kraus and partner Jelena, Mitchell Kraus; Jamie Kraus and his fiancée Natalie, and Hayley Kraus and her partner Max, and also missed by their mother Angie. Great-grandfather of Joe and Ryan Franken. Dear brother of Gunny Schwarz, and Dieter Kraus. Rolf is also remembered by his former wife Bonnie Kraus, his special friend Ursula Kaupp, her children Annika, Mimi and Hanna and he will be missed by his many friends who have helped him over the years. Predeceased by his siblings Inge Müller, Kurt Kraus, and Vera Kirckhoven.

Rolf came to Canada in 1958 to work at Maple Leaf Veneer (more recently known as Interforest) where he set up and maintained large pieces of machinery. This line of work would take him throughout North America and abroad. In partnership with Bonnie, he owned and operated Welbeck Sawmill for several years.

A private memorial service will be held.
