Bruce Moore

Frederick Bruce Moore, of Durham, passed away at Rockwood Terrace on Thursday, June 1st, 2023 at the age of 78, and he is now at peace in his heavenly home. Beloved husband of Bertha (nee Bender). Loving father of Laurie Hooper, and the late Rob Moore and his wife Deb. Cherished grandfather of Matt Hooper and his partner Shelby, Josh Hooper and his partner Allie, Beth Hooper, Becky Moore, Mike Moore and his partner Hailey, and Brittney Moore. Great-grandfather of Carma, and Georgie. Dear brother Emilie and her husband Gilles St. Pierre. Dear brother-in-law of Lyle and Sheri Bender, Viola Bender, David Mills, Leon and Heidi Bender, Ernie and Brenda Bender, Dean and Maxine Bender, and Sheila and Robert Mayerhofer. Predeceased by his siblings Joyce Hollingsworth, Hazel Hammond, Ron Moore, and Bill Moore, his brother-in-law Jim Bender, and sister-in-law Darlene Mills.

As a young man Bruce started working at Durham Furniture until being hired at the Durham Hospital as an orderly. He then furthered his education in Ambulance and as a Registered Cardiac Technologist. He was employed at the hospital for 33 years until his retirement in 2004. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his cheerful whistling. Bruce had many interests and achievements and he enjoyed helping his family, woodworking, golfing, camping and driving his red MGB.

Visitation will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Tuesday, June 6th from 7 – 9 p.m., where members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 308 will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service honouring Bruce’s life will be held at the Durham Legion on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment at Durham Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce, Durham Hospital Foundation or Rockwood Terrace would be appreciated by the family.
