John Clark

John Alexander Clark, of Durham, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Mildred “Millie” Clark. Loving father of Douglas Clark and his wife Debra of Clearwater Bay, ON, and Joan Gatherum of Durham, ON. Cherished grandfather of John Clark and his partner Tina, Laura Clark, and Terri and her husband Dan Harris, grandfather-in-law of Cheryl McMahon, and great-grandfather of Dominic Carriere, Hannah McMahon, and Dylan and MacKenzie Harris. Also survived by his daughter-in-law Georgie Clark of Winnipeg, MB, his sister-in-law Bonnie Ritchie and brother-in-law Wilfred Helm.  Predeceased by his mother Clara W. Clark, stepfather Frederick McMullen, son Robert Clark, infant son John Emil Clark, grandson Derek McMahon and brother Willis McMullen.

John worked for CN Rail for 37 years, retiring as Chief of Transportation in 1986. His favourite hobbies were breeding and raising Foxhounds and fishing in the Great Lakes. 

A funeral service celebrating John’s life will be held at Knox United Church, Durham on Monday, July 10th at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the service from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Private interment at Gelert Cemetery, Minden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Durham Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
